DREAM REAVERS 7 SINS ANTHOLOGY PROJECT

***ATTENTION TO ALL ASPIRING COMIC CREATORS***

DREAM REAVERS- 7 SINS Anthology.

To celebrate the release of the trade paperback version of Ape Entertainment's hit mini-series, DREAM REAVERS; comic creator Raphael Moran has announced the new anthology "Dream Reavers-7 sins".   7 different artists, 7 different writers, 7 different sinfully devious standalone stories.

DREAM REAVERS 7 SINS-
The evil Spook King is building an army evil nightmares to help him in his quest to take over the land of Astral.   He picks 7 sinful people with 7 sinful nightmares and recruits them to his side.    Each standalone story is interconnected by this main plot.

"I'm putting out a open call to any aspiring writer out there.   This is a chance to get your first work published.  It's a great opportunity to get your foot in the door, so to speak," Raphael Moran announced.    "Four years ago I submitted to a anthology just like this and here I am now with a mini-series and a load of other comics under my belt."

"All you need to do is write a stand alone short story that features one of the 7 deadly sins as the main plot point.   The stories will be between 5 to 15 pages in length.   The writer can bring their own creative team in or if they don't have one I'll see if I can find one for them.  The stories have no connection to the Dream Reavers comic series, so you don't need to have read them to write the comic.   The stories are open to any genre you like, but must have a twist or ironic ending to them.    For example, think back to an episode of The Twilight Zone, or Amazing Stories.   Each story will be depicted as a dream within the anthology and each story must either deal with LUST, GLUTTONY, GREED, WRATH, SLOTH, ENVY AND PRIDE.    Only 7 stories can get in, so the sooner you submit the better.   The deadline is July 4th, 2012.  Send a short synopsis of your story to DreamReavers@gmail.com with the subject title "7 Sins submission"

"We'll hopefully release the first of the stories digitally and depending on the success of the digital format we'll do a print run.  This is not a upfront paid gig.  All writers or creative teams keep all the creative rights to the stories and will receive a backend profit on the sales of the book.   They'll also receive 25 copies of the book if it gets a print run.   I'm also giving away signed copies of the original Dream Reavers mini-series.  You'll also be invited to do various signings when the book is printed."

Dreams can come true....

After a lot of struggles to find the right artist I literally fell into one as if a gift from heaven.   Marc Borstel.   Probably the most professional and most wonderful artist any writer could hope for.   After he turned in the first couple of pages of art I was blown away.   Here below was his first group picture for the characters.

DAY DREAMING OF THE FUTURE.

This long journey is finally coming to an end.  After working on a project for so many years it's pretty good to look back and reflect on how it all came to be.

 IN THE BEGINNING....
I came up with the idea for Dream reavers over 10 years ago.  It was just called DREAMERS back then though.   The story itself actually did come from a vivid dream I had as a youth.   I always thought it would be cool to be able to travel into other peoples dreams.

THE EVOLUTION...
Of course its evolved over the years, but no matter what evolution it took it all started with one image.   A young boy in a mental hospital falling to his feet in pain and suddenly going into a coma.

Ironically the original plot of the story was almost exactly like the movie "The Matrix." mixed with the movie Dreamscape.   Believe I was kicking myself when I finally saw that movie and realized it just screwed me over in the plot department.    After a couple of major adjustments over the years, the final product was ready again.   I picked a great artist and then suddenly that artist dropped out after he couldn't commit to it.   At that point I thought I'd put dream of doing the most crazy story I had ever dreamed up to rest.

I started out my career in this crazy buisness as a artist.  Getting very little money for too much work was killing me and I quickly went to a life of a normal average joe working at a hardware store.   I turned my creative spark towards writing, and wrote a novel called The DARK TIDES, which I wrote while in highschool.    It was a cross between the Abyss and Journey to the center of the Earth.    Unfortunately I probably sold about 20 copies. (I'm being very generous about that number.)   Maybe one day some hollywood producer will want to adapt that book into a movie one day cause it would totally kick ass man.  -wink wink.

                                                           ANGST

I went into the movie buisness with little success.  Exec. producing a movie and writing another.   That's when I got the offer I couldn't refuse.   A webcomic series.    Angst reignited my love for the comics medium.   The experience on that helped me get the courage to work on Flee and Dream Reavers.  Two of my oldest story ideas.....

FLEE

When the time came to pitch DREAM REAVERS again I jumped at the chance.   I found a great artist and the Dream I had so many years ago was finally coming to life.
